1.flog/beat a dead horse
① --Are you sure we can't procure a new car?
---We talked about this and the decision was "no". You are flogging a dead horse.
② You are flogging a dead horse trying to persuade him to accept the new concepts-he is absolutely an old fossil.
2.Between a rock and a hard place
Between an roack and a hard place
① Some off-farm workers are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they don't take harsh and underpaid work, they will have to suffer unemployment and poverty.
② The merchants got stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, they have to sell their goods, on the other hand, the more they sell, the more they lose.
