Although many Chinese students say that their knowledge of English grammar is good, most would admit that their spoken English is poor. Whenever I speak to a Chinese student they always say, "My spoken English is poor." However, their spoken English does not have to remain "poor"! I would like to suggest that there may be some reasons for their problems with spoken English.
虽然一些中国学生说他们的语法知识很好,但大多承他口语很差。当我与中国学生谈话时,他们总是说:“我的口语很差。”然而,他们的口语原本可以不这么“糟糕”的。我的意思是说他们在口语方面的问题有其一定的原因。

First, they fail to find suitable words to express themselves due to a limited vocabulary. Obviously the better answer is to expand their vocabulary. However, you can speak with a limited vocabulary, if you choose a positive attitude. Others will follow you as long as you use the words that you know.
首先,他们受到词汇量的限制,无法找到合适的词来表达自己的意思。显然这个问是题的最佳解决方式就是扩充单词量。然而,即使词汇量有限,如果态度积极的话,也一样可以畅所欲言。只使用你知道的单词,其他人也能理解你。

Second, they are afraid of making mistakes. Sometimes they make mistakes when they are speaking because they are shy and nervous. Yet students should remember that their goal should be "Fluency not Accuracy". Your aim in writing words is spelling them correctrly. However, in speaking your aim is fluency. You want to get your message across, to talk to someone in English, as quickly and as well as you can, even though sometimes you may use a wrong word or tense, but it doesn't matter. The person you are speaking to will understand you and make allowances for any mistakes he hears.
第二,他们太害怕犯错误。有时他们说英语时会因为害羞和紧张而犯错误。但是学生们要知道他们的目标应当是“流畅而不是精确”。你在书写中的目标是拼写正确。然而在说英语时,你的目标是流畅。你需要传达你的思想,以尽可能快的速度讲话,即使有时可能会使用错误的单词和句型,但这没有关系。你与之谈话的人会理解你并允许你犯错误。

The third reason is that not enough attention is paid to listening. You have one mouth but two ears. All that hearnign was necessary for you to start speaking.
第三,不善于听别人讲话。你有一张嘴巴,两个耳朵。在你开口张话之前,注意倾听是必的。

Fourth, most Chinse students are reactive rather than proactive languages learners. Instead of actively seeking out opportunities to improve their spoken English they passively wait for speaking opportunities to come to them and wonder why their English always remains poor. If you have this proactive outlook, then you will see English opportunities wherever you go.

第四,大部分中国学生是反应性的而不是主动性的。他们不是主动寻求提高口语的机会,而是被动等待机会的到来,同时疑惑为什么他们的英语还是很差。如果你能采取主动的方式,那么你到处都可以发现说英语的机会。
